'T-shirt texts are a story in themselves. They are often written in poor or incomprehensible English. I think this one is particularly touching. Many young Japanese people are romantic and idealistic. They obviously have a pretty good idea of the regimented, conformist life that awaits them. While they are still young they want to burn brightly, to be beautiful and do eccentric things. Before long they will be absorbed into the monotonous routine of Japanese society.'
