Kings of the hill is shot on the Mediterrenean coast near Tel Aviv where SUV drivers gather to put their beloved cars through their paces on the dunes. The work is more documentary than other Bartana classics, as though the images themselves only need simple editing to say enough about the masochistic rituals of overweight men cajoling their bored children into excitement while the extraordinariness of their surroundings, both natural and political, seems to pass by unnoticed.
