Forest Time includes a series of nature photographs taken by Erik Wesselo. These are chiefly blown-up Polaroids of landscapes, locations for his 16mm films, including Backward (1997) and Isostar (1998). The pictures are grainy and sometimes unsharp, inert and almost peaceful, yet at the same time they conceal another story, an underlying tension. An extraordinary atmosphere hangs in the air – an emotional charge.
Additionally a Vinyl record with a composition by the American singer and lyricist Will Oldham is enclosed to Forest Time. Oldham composed the catchy folksong at Wesselo’s request and together with the landscape an exceptional dialogue between music and image has been created.
