found clock, copper sulphate
30 cm diameter, 6 cm deep
Hiorns first crystalized clocks for a comission he received from the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel's department Fielden House. Hiorns took material from this children's hospital, then a derelict building, to create works to be placed in the new building. Crystalizing these clocks in effects stops time, thus freeing the sick children from seeing time passing, whilst they are confined to the hospital.
